The State of Oregon wants to learn more about how climate change affects you, your family, and your community.
Department of Land Conservation and Development is hosting a series of workshops in Eastern Oregon as part of its Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment Project.
- 10/13 Burns, Harney County Community Center, 4:30 to 7:30 pm
- 10/14 John Day, Airport, 1 pm – 4 pm
- 10/15 Madras, Recreation Center, 10 am – 1 pm
- 10/24 Baker City, Churchill School 4 – 7: pm
- 10/25 Ontario, Four Rivers Cultural Center, 6 – 9 pm
- 10/26 Pendleton, Armory, 4 – 7 pm
Each three-hour workshop will provide a summary of the physical effects of climate change expected in your area. These include an increase in the number of hot days, changes in rainfall timing and amounts, and reduced snowpacks. Then, workshop participants will engage in hands-on activities intended to encourage conversation and storytelling about how these changes will affect you, your family, your work, and your community. Families are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be available.
